Down Hall Hotel, set within 110 acres of pristine Essex and Hertfordshire woodland, offers luxury picnic hampers for guests and day visitors from May to September. We take care of every single detail. Your boutique experience includes a traditionally prepared picnic hamper filled with seasonal treats, along with a comfortable blanket, so all you have to do is find your perfect spot under the summer sun.
What’s Included in Your Experience
Bespoke Hamper Menu: A luxury selection of artisanal sandwiches, savoury bites, and sweet treats freshly prepared by our kitchen team.
The Full Setup: A classic wicker picnic hamper and blanket are provided for your use throughout the day.
110 Acres of Freedom: Complete access to our private estate grounds, formal gardens, and quiet woodland paths.
Optional Upgrades: Elevate your afternoon by adding a chilled bottle of Champagne or our signature Down Hall Garden Gin.
Picnics are available between the 1st May and the 30th September. Bookings must be made before 10am on the day, for bookings 12pm onwards.

Collection: Collect your pre-booked hamper directly from The Fox Bar at your chosen time. We will also provide you with a map of the grounds, ready to be explored.
Dietary Requirements: Vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options are available. Please specify any dietary needs when completing your booking. As allergens are present in our kitchen and some of our ingredients have 'may contain' warnings, we cannot guarantee menu items will be completely free from a specific allergen.
Deposit: A deposit of £20 per person is required for picnic bookings.
