Kitchen Garden

From plot to plate

Nestled within 110 acres of woodland, parkland and landscaped gardens, Down Hall Hotel, Spa & Estate boasts an extensive Kitchen Garden bursting with fresh seasonal fruit, vegetables and salad.
The gardeners work closely with Executive Chef Robert Pearce to plan the year's harvest, ensuring that the freshest ingredients make their way to the kitchen. And if you're a fan of botanical cocktails, you'll love the Fox Bar's carefully crafted drinks that feature ingredients straight from the garden. Even the flower arrangements are grown on the grounds, adding to the natural beauty of the space.

Within The Kitchen Garden, the hotel also has an orchard that's teeming with fruit and wildlife. Take a stroll through the garden during your stay and see for yourself where your dinner comes from. With no food miles to worry about, you can indulge in the freshest produce possible.

The gardeners use poly tunnels within the garden to create a micro climate that's perfect for germinating seeds, developing seedlings and growing more delicate varieties like heritage tomatoes, peppers, chillies and aubergines. This means that even in the cooler months, you can enjoy the freshest and most flavourful ingredients in your meals.

Our latest edition is an extension to our Kitchen Garden. We have recently planted our first potato patch, and we have planted botanicals ready for distilling our very first Down Hall Gin! This new addition means that we are even more eco-friendly when it comes to sourcing our ingredients. As always, we strive to provide the freshest and most flavourful produce for our guests, and this new addition is sure to impress. Come visit us and taste the difference! Whether you're a seasoned gardener or just love delicious food, come delve into Down Hall.

Our own fruit and vegetable produce, harvested throughout the year, offers a seasonal bounty with fresh selections available each month.
